Bisher hab ich nur meine heiß geliebten Romane gesehen, geschmöckert und gut behütet (mal abgesehen von dem einen schmerzlichen Verlust, als ich mein Buch nicht wieder bekam). Doch in letzter Zeit schaue ich über den Tellerrand. Die BT - Comunity bei Facebook hat mich ja zum Tabeltop überredet und ich gestalte ja auch die erworbenen Mechs. Natürlich nicht als Profi. lol. Dabei schaut man sich doch zwangsläufig alles genauer an!
Es gibt allein bei fantasiewelt.de weit über 501 Mech Zinnminiaturen zu erwerben, bei Ebay geistern alte Mechs von FASA rum und Ralphata findet man dort auch noch. Wenn ich mir so die Publikationen rund um Batteltech ansehe, bin ich schon erstaunt, was da alles so noch herum schwirrt. Für meine Fanfiction erwarb ich mir ein 3050er Hardwarehandbuch. Das ist echt nicht schlecht.
Da ich die meine Fan Roman in 3067 ansiedelt suchte ich natürlich weiter. Und siehe da, es gibt ein altes 3067er Handbuch von 2003 (Fanpro). Natürlich auch gekauft. Dort sind Mechs und Fahrzeuge beschrieben, die mir bislang nicht geläufig waren und ich ahne, daß ich nur einen Bruchteil dessen kenne, was der normale Tabeltopnutzer weiß. Vorausgesetz, man spielt die entsprechenden Epochen. Da sind ja keine Grenzen gesetzt. Das finde ich Klasse. Heute hatte ich zum Beispiel einfach ein Mixmatch von alten (3028-3039) und neuen (3057-3063) Mechs mit meinem Sohn in Lanzenform gemacht. Das war krass.
Damit so etwas gelingt, gibt es ja auch das Tool SSW, welches regelmäßig aktualisiert wird. Aber, man kann selber sich das Balancing erarbeiten. Dies machen meist die Hardcore Spieler. Ich nutze da noch die Vorgaben. Angefangen von 3039 bis 3067 plus Extraordner Omnimechs usw. Ein gutes Hilfsprogramm.
Deutsche Technical Readouts oder Taktikbücher findet ein Battletech Fan eher selten. Schade, denn es gibt ja allein schon 14 Technical Readouts nach Jahren und ein paar für Fahrzeuge. Leider rein in Englisch. Was haben wir dann noch? Tactikal Reports / Kits, Ara Reports, Bücher zum Jihad, Kampagnen, Field Manuals, Abhandlungen zu den Clankriegen, den großen Häusern, Regelwerke und auch Fanprodukte (Klamotten, Sticker etc). Das ist schon ein großes Angebot. Jedoch alles in Englisch. Catalyst ist in den Staaten einfach aktiver und sehr präsent für die dortigen Fans, auch wenn es wie hierzulande nur eine Randgruppe ist. Hier bremsen mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit Lizensgebühren und die nicht so große Nachfrage das Erscheinen der ganzen Produktpalette aus dem Battletech Universum aus.
Natürlich gibt es noch die alten Sachen zu erwerben (so aus den 90er), aber das sind dann doch horrende Preise die da verlangt werden und nicht für meinen Geldbeutel geeignet. Da wäre es toll, wenn man mal neue Sachen auflegt. Wäre zwar schlecht für den Sammler, aber gut für Neueinsteiger und alt Eingesessene, die ihren Horizont erweitern wollen (so wie ich).
Innerhalb der Chapters und Facebookgruppen gibt es mitunter rege Diskussionen zu Battletech. Sehr oft tauchen da Regelfragen und -vorschläge auf. Aktuell wird viel über die Gestaltung von Karten gesprochen. Apropo Karten: Da hab ich mir welche ersteigern können, aber so die Masse finde ich nicht. Leider. Wäre doch toll, wenn es mehr gebe. Na gut, dann bastel ich eben bei HeavyMetalMap mir eine zusammen. Leider macht der Drucker nicht die tolle Qualität. Vielleicht brauch ich dann einen Besseren.
Battletech ist mitunter größer, als man denkt und es macht definitiv Spaß. Mein Spiel gegen meinen Sohn ging über 1 Stunde und wir waren voll dabei. Gut, ich bin noch nicht sattelfest in der Regelkunde und wir spielten etwas großzügig in der Auslegung, aber man merkt, daß es doch trotz der langen Spieldauer sehr fesselnd wirkt. Ich glaube, wir hätten unser Lanzengeplänkel länger durchgezogen, wenn es nicht gerade ans Essen ging.
Was ist eigentlich mein Fazit? Hmm, eigentlich nur, daß ich meinen Blick über den Tellerrand absolut nicht bereue.
