Die Zukunft der Computer (the future of the computer)

Irgendwie werden uns vielleicht schon recht bald die klassischen PC´s verlassen. Alle Hersteller haben am PC und Notebookmarkt schwer zu kämpfen. Einzig der Tabletmarkt boomt und das wird wohl auch so weiter gehen. ARM Prozessoren drängen immer mehr in den PC Bereich und sind eine große Konkurrenz für die klassischen x86er Cpu´s. Bestes Beispiel ist ja aktuell die Überlegung von Apple einen ARM Prozessor künftig im iMac einzusetzen.

Was passiert gerade?  Intel und AMD kämpfen mit massiven Umsatzeinbußen. Dell verzeichnet einen Verlust von 32 Prozent, AMD droht eine mögliche Übernahme und der Erzfeind der 2 großen Cpu Hersteller Nvidia lacht sich ins Fäustchen. Durch Tegra ist Nvidia bestens aufgestellt für den ARM Markt und hat schon richtig Vorsprung. Desweiteren verschmilzt das Smartphone leicht mit dem Tablet. Daher ist es auch logisch, daß verstärkt ARM Prozessoren dominieren. Google forcierte die Verbreitung durch sein Android und Microsoft zieht nun nach.

Appple und Samsung führen einen Kampf auf gehobener Ebene. Durch ihre immensen Verkaufszahlen bleibt die Konkurrenz weit abgeschlagen zurück. Ebenfalls wurde durch diesen Zweikampf eine massive Leistungssteigerung der ARM´s möglich. Derzeit gibt es ja auch Quadcore für ARM. Dieser Prozessortyp wurde immer lesitungsfähiger.

Mein Smartphone ist aktuell 200 Mhz je Kern schneller als mein AMD auf dem Acer Iconia. Vor geraumer Zeit emtdeckte ich eine ARM Cpu mit 1,5 Ghz und Quadcore. Nicht mehr lang und die ARM takten auf Intelniveau und sind gleichzeitig nicht so stromhungring. Durch Android gelang ja der Sprung in den Tabletbereich und nun strebt der ARM in Richtung PC, begünstigt durch Apples Entscheidung diesen für den iMac zu testen.

Betrachtet man sich selber, wird man feststellen, daß man gern zu einem Tablet greift. Ist einfach bequemer und angenehmer in der Handhabung. Da sich nicht jeder ein iPad leisten kann, kommt hier Google perfekt ins Spiel und bedient das mittlere und untere Segment. Denn Android ist nicht Ressourcen hungrig, offen für alle Hersteller und hat zu Apple aufgeschlossen. Natürlich ist Apple cleverer Weise stets einen Schritt voraus, aber die Luft wird dünner.

Betrachten wir nun Microsoft mit seinem Windows RT / Phone. Die Redmonder wollen den Tablet und Smartphone Markt aufmischen. Aber womit? Mit diesen Preisen? Hmm, da ist es schwer nicht nein zu einem Android Tablet zu sagen. Einzig die Marke Windows zieht. Aber nicht der Preis. Alte Tablets mit Windows 7 lassen sich gut aufrüsten, aber das war es erst einmal.

Ebenso scheint auch der Konsolenmarkt ins Stocken geraten zu sein. Kaum Neuerscheinungen für die gängigen Konsolen, keine neue Hardware. Es wird nur ein wenig an dem vorhandenen Design gefeilt und mehr nicht. Nächstes Jahr sollen die Nachfolger erscheinen. Aber reizen tut mich keiner. Irgendwie hängen wir alle an Minispielen, Tablets und Smartphones fest, die grafisch leistungsstark geworden sind und ebenfalls viel Spaß machen. Braucht man da noch neue Konsolen? Lohnt sich der Kauf? Eher nicht.

Die Entwicklung tendiert zur Zeit in Richtung Multimedia. Ein Tablet oder Smartphone, das alles kann. Gut, ich will kein 10 Zoll Smartphone. Also werden diese 2 Arten von Computer eher nebeneinander existieren. Der klassische PC und das Notebook sehe ich eher auf der Verliererseite. Zumindest für uns Heimanwender. In den Firmen werden sie uns erhalten bleiben, aber wer weiß, vielleicht ändert sich auch das noch. Vor mir ein Bildschirm und eine virtuelle Tastatur. Gestensteuerung. Ist ja voll im Kommen.

Wermutstropfen an dieser Entwicklung ist das Erscheinen neuer Hardware im Halbjahrestakt. Ebenfalls passen sich die nötigen Betriebssysteme an diese Geschwindigkeit an und man wird häufiger gezwungen ein neues Gerät zu kaufen. Das ist eigentlich nicht zeitgerecht, wo doch jeder vom Klimawandel und Ressourcenschutz spricht. Langlebigkeit durch Innovation. Das wäre doch mal was Neues. Aber geht nicht, das paßt nicht zu meinen Umsatzzahlen.

Was wird uns erwarten? Ich denke die Riesensprünge von Apple sind vorbei. Man erreicht langsam das Ende der Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten und setzt mehr auf Erneuerung der Modelle. Innovationen werden ausbleiben und im Hardwarebereich setzt langsam der Stopp ein. Intel und AMD müssen umdenken. Sonst sind diese Großen der Computerbranche schneller Geschichte, als man denken kann. Zurzteit sind die Giganten der Cpu nicht mehr unerreichbar!

Wir werden hier eher Tablets zu Hause sehen und per Wlan auch die Daten an den LED Fernseher  für tolle Bilder senden. Kabellose Laden der Geräte wird auch möglich sein (siehe Nokia oder Duracell Charging Matte) und wer weiß, was noch so geht. Spannend ist es auf jeden Fall für Technikfreaks. lol.

Likewise also the console market seems to be faltering. Hardly new releases for a variety of consoles, no new hardware. It is just a little polish up the existing design and not more. Next year, the successor to appear. But do not provoke me. Somehow, we all hang on to mini-games, tablets and smart phones that have become graphically powerful and also make a lot of fun. There need new consoles? It is worth buying? Probably not.

Development tends to be time towards multimedia. A tablet or smart phone that can do everything. Well, I do not want a 10 inch Smartphone. So these 2 types of computers are likely to coexist. The classic PC and notetbook I see more on the losing side. At least for us home users. In the company they are here to stay, but who knows, maybe even the changes yet. Before me, a screen and a virtual keyboard. Gesture control. Is indeed in full swing.

Downside of this development is the emergence of new hardware in the semi-annual cycle. Also adapt the necessary operating systems at this speed and you will be forced to buy a new device frequently. This is not really good time, when everybody talks about climate change and resource conservation. Longevity through innovation. That would be something new. But does not that does not fit into my sales figures.

What will we expect? I think the giant leaps of Apple are over. You reach the end of the slow development opportunities and relies more on the renewal models. Innovations are inevitable and in the hardware sector slowly begins the stop. Intel and AMD have to rethink. Otherwise, these giants of the computer industry are faster story than we can think.

We will see more tablets at home via wifi and also send the data to the LED TV for better pictures. Wireless charging the device will also be possible (see Nokia or Duracell Charging Mat) and who knows what will still like that. Exciting it is definitely for techies. lol.
