Windows 8 - cool

Das gibt es nicht! Vor Kurzem habe ich hier noch rum getönt, daß ich nicht auf Windows 8 umsteigen werde. Nun hat doch mein Bruder einen Artikel in seinem Blog über Windows 8 geschrieben, mit mir telefoniert und ich habe auch noch bei PC Gameshardware einen Test gelesen. Wenn mein Bruder über etwas schwärmt, ist es relativ wahrscheinlich, daß es mir auch gefällt. Der Artikel der PC Gameshardware hat mich dann endgültig überzeugt, so daß ich mich an Windows 8 heran wage.

Vorab sei gesagt, daß Windows 8 für die Hardcorezocker eher uninteressant ist. Noch, aber das wird sich in den kommenden Jahren oder Monaten bestimmt ändern. Für Spieler gibt es keine Performancevorteile bei 8, da dieses eher die 2 D Effekte optimiert und den App Anwender versucht zu aktivieren. Wer viel spielt, vor allem grafisch anspruchsvolle Spiele, braucht definitiv nicht umzusteigen. Dies lohnt sich aktuell eher für einen Anwender, der sich im Bereich Multimedia und Internet / Office unterwegs ist.

Derzeit bekommt ihr für 29,90 Euro die Pro Version direkt bei Microsoft. Diese habe ich mir auch zugelegt. Gut, der Download war verdammt lang. 2 GB in 3,5 Stunden. Okay, mein DSL ist ja auch arg langsam. Wird eine Sicherungs DVD benötigt, kommen nochmals 14,90 Euro plus Versand dazu. Wie gesagt, es handelt sich hier um die eigentlich teuere Pro Version. Die Installation / das Update dauerte echt lang. Jedoch wurde kaum etwas verändert und alle nötigen Treiber sind an Bord. Einzig mein Chronotel Treiber mag nicht. Doch das ist nicht tragisch.

Dann kommt das Zurechtfinden. Da mich diverse Videos bei YouTube langweilen und mitunter einschläfern, bin ich selber auf Erkundung gegangen. Nebenbei hatte ich noch mit meinem Bruder gechattet, der mir auch ein paar Hinweise gegeben hat. Am Anfang ist ja alles eingestellt und man beginnt zu personalisieren. Kleiner Tipp: Rechtsklick, auf alle Apps gehen und dann werden alle Programme des PC angezeigt. Nun auf das entsprechende Programm per Rechtsklick gehen und unten werden mehrere Optionen angezeigt. Für den Startscreen einfach diese Option wählen. Die Systemsteuerung würde ich an die Taskleiste heften, da auf dem Desktop dann die gewohnte Startleiste fehlt.


Im Prinzip erklärt sich alles von selbst. Einzig der Ausschalter wurde recht gut versteckt. Ihr müßt euren Mauszeiger nach rechts oben bewegen, bis das Menü eingeblendet wird. Nun das Symbol für Einstellungen anklicken und ihr seht unten rechts den Ein/Aus Schalter. Offene Apps werden geschlossen indem ihr links oben den Mauszeiger positioniert und mit Rechtsklick direkt "schließen" anklickt.

Der Apps Store von Windows ist noch recht karg. Kostenlose Apps gibt es wenige und die zu bezahlenden Apps kann man sich auch schenken. Jedoch denke ich, daß innerhalb der kommenden Monate sich das grundlegend ändern wird. In Bezug auf den klassischen PC Nutzer sind fast alle Apps nutzlos. Spieler werden ihre normalen Spiele kaufen und nicht die Minispiele vom Windows App Store. Office und Multimediaanwendungen sind auf klassischem Weg zu erhalten und benötigen den Store ebenfalls nicht. Deshalb erachte ich den Windows Store aus Sicht der PC und Notebookanwender völlig nutzlos in Bezug auf Software und Spiele.

Nun zum Eingemachten. Windows 8 startet fix und arbeitet recht schnell. Ich habe zwar keine Zeiten gemessen, aber mein Intel Atom Dual Core mit gerade mal 1,8 Ghz und der integrierten Grafik in der Cpu ist bedeutend schneller, als mit Windows 7. Und ich war und bin überzeugt, daß Windows 7 echt schell ist gegenüber meinem alten XP (wie bekannt hab ich Vista wie die Pest gemieden). Lästig ist das Fehlen der Startleiste im Desktopmodus. Werden Desktopprogramme unter Start aufgerufen (Firefox, Thunderbird, Internet Explorer, Open Office etc) springt Metro (nun Modern UI genannt) einfach auf den Desktop um und nicht wieder zurück. Das nervt ein wenig, wenn man lieber bei Metro bleiben möchte.

Hat man sich alle Steuerungspunkte der Maus gemerkt, kann man recht gut mit Windows 8 umgehen. Nebenbei erwähnt, schreibe ich meinen Artikel gerade mal nach nur 2 Stunden Nutzung. Dabei war ich noch nebenbei im Internet, hab gechattet und mich nebenbei mit Windows 8 beschäftigt. Ich habe mich also schnell zurecht gefunden, mich an die Bedienung gewöhnt und es macht spaß Windows zu personalisieren. Cool ist auch die Bündelung aller Kontakte. Man kann in der Kontakt App alle seine Sozialnetworkanwendungen implementieren und hat diese komplett im Griff (Facebook, Google etc.).

Fazit: Trotz meiner Skepsis ist Windows 8 durchaus gelungen und für meinen Nettop PC ein echter Gewinn. Tolle Optik, leichte Bedienung und schick noch obendrein. Wer kein Edelzocker ist, kann getrost umsteigen. Ich bin begeistert! Einzig Window 8 für ein Smartphone kann ich mir noch nicht vorstellen. Keine Ahnung ob ich das besser finden würde, als mein Android 4.0 Handy.

Man kann natürlich Einiges verbessern. Startleiste, Ausschalter und kein ungewolltes Umspringen von Metro zum Desktop. Mehr Negatives fällt mir gerade nicht ein. Auf jeden Fall bereue ich nicht, daß ich den mehr als nur lobenden Worten meines Bruders gefolgt bin. Nach nur 2 Stunden bi ich echt zufrieden. Das ist eine Leistung, die nur Android 4.0 schaffte. Auch mein über alles geliebtes Windows XP brauchte länger. Nun überleg ich mir nur noch, ob ich eine Lizense für mein Windows Tablet erwerbe. Das reizt mich auch noch.

Of course you can improve stuff. Launch toolbar off and no unwanted snapped by Metro to the desktop. More negative to me does not even occur.
